The Cauyaq camp is sponsored by the Kodiak Island Borough School District and the Native Village of Afognak. The camp is located at a rustic campsite nestled in a spruce forest between a lank and an ocean beach. Participants work closely with Elders and culture bearers on Alutiiq dancing, music, and songs. The camp is located at a rustic campsite nestled in a spruce forest between a lank and an ocean beach. Guided by survival experts such as local military representatives and Native Elders, the camp illustrates important outdoor and wilderness survival techniques through fun outdoor activities, games, and competitions.
