Hello, my name is Julie Zundel and I live in Fairbanks with my husband and two year old daughter. I was born in Anchorage and have lived most of my life in Fairbanks. I teach science at West Valley High School. I enjoy being outside, camping, fishing, gardening and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to visiting a camp this summer and hope I can incorporate what I learn into my classroom.

My mother's side of the family has lived in Alaska since the early 1930s. Her father came to Alaska as a gold miner. My father came to Alaska as a bush pilot and later worked as an airline pilot. My mother grew up raising sled dogs and this has been something she has enjoyed doing most of her life. Today my father lives in Las Vegas and my mother lives in Two Rivers (which is a 45 minute drive from Fairbanks).

I really love Fairbanks. I think, for the most part, people are fairly accepting here. I have traveled around the U.S. quite a bit but I have never left North America -- so I hope I am able to travel overseas in the future.
